So how can you grow a beard and avoid common mistakes while doing it? In this article, we’ll look at four common mistakes men make while growing their beards and how they can be avoided.

Expecting dramatic results overnight

Ever watch paint dry? Doesn’t it seem as though the time stands still? On average, beards grow about half an inch a month and they may grow faster or slower, depending on your genetics. It is at this stage a lot of men give up and think they don’t have the genetics to grow a thick beard. Let’s be real, you may not have the genetics to grow a full beard, but two weeks isn’t enough time to know that. So be patient, we recommend that you devote two full months to growing a beard. Just vitamins, water, minding your business, and living your life.

Most beards continue developing well after the age of 30. So if you are in your twenties and still have a patchy beard, don’t worry, you just haven’t reached your full potential yet.

Washing your beard too much, or not enough

 

The purpose of washing your beard is to remove dirt, dead skin cells, and other particles. These can weigh down hair, block pores, cause acne, and slow down your beard growth. On the other hand, washing your beard too often or with a harsh shampoo can strip away natural oils. This can lead to dry skin, beard dandruff, and itchiness. Next thing you know, you’re at the barber telling him to “cut this shit off”.
